Sometimes when we role-play
my wife lets me be David Koresh;
she’s willing to believe in my revelations
and follow me to the heartland—
even if that means drought.
She’s willing to believe in my ability
to change; willing to believe
in my reformation—
even after I fail over and over and
she still even believes in the absurdity of my dreams,
even letting them become her dreams.
She knows that the bigness of my ego
overshadows my ability long before I realize it.
Which is why when we role-play I let her be Princess Diana.
